MARK RITTER

Choir Director and Pianist

Mark D. Ritter has been been privileged to serve at SUMC since 2016. He is a graduate of Clarksville High School and University of Louisville. For over 20 years, Mark has been involved in church music, playing the piano and organ, as well as singing in choirs.

Mark developed his love for old hymns at his childhood church in Cookietown, Oklahoma, where his paternal grandparents, Arbuary and Jane Ritter, have dedicated the last 58 years pastoring and serving. His grandparents’ example of Christ-like service impacted Mark and profoundly guided his spiritual journey. As an 8-year old boy Mark accepted Jesus as his Savior, and he continues loving to use music to share the story of salvation.

In 1997, Mark’s family moved to Southern Indiana. This is where he began learning to play the piano, thanks to support from his maternal grandparents, George and Opal Bowles. At home, Mark’s parents encouraged him to use his musical abilities for the Lord. Because of his family’s investment in his spiritual and musical upbringing, Mark has been blessed with many opportunities to serve in church music ministries from an early age.

Mark loves helping people learn about Jesus through the music ministry of Sellersburg United Methodist Church. He loves working with the talented choir and enjoys welcoming new voices to their Wednesday night rehearsals!

Even if you don’t have an interest in joining the choir, Mark would love to worship with you on Sunday mornings to fill Sellersburg United Methodist Church’s sanctuary with worshipful praise!

MIKE HOLLADAY

Michael T. Holladay has been honored to know Jesus Christ as his personal savior since he was twelve years old.  He has contributed in worship at SUMC since 2010, initially hired as a part time mentor to the worship leader and focused on helping him bring contemporary praise and worship to the traditional worship congregation.  Mike now continues as a volunteer, supporting the music department by serving on the worship team in a shared lay leadership position.

Mike was born in Louisville, Ky, and started his musical career with formal piano lessons at the age of eight which continued through college as a performance major at University of Louisville School of Music.  He transferred to East Coast Bible College in Charlotte, NC, studying music ministry, where he met his wife, Deleen. Mike and Deleen moved to Florida raised two daughters and twin boys. The next 22 years involved heavy involvement in lay ministry at several small and large churches in Florida where Mike served as musician and leader in choirs, bands, orchestras, media, lighting, sound, drama and church growth. Mike’s first full time position was as both youth and music minister in Vero Beach, Florida.

After 22 years in Florida, Mike’s family relocated to southern Indiana, bringing Mike back to the greater Louisville area where he grew up and where most of his family still remains.  Mike is driven by excellence and believes that nothing is more important than gratitude expressed through lifestyle and worship.

His secular career has always been an expression of leadership training, business development and mentorship.  Mike has a mandate of helping others to succeed reaching their dreams and finding their purpose in life and that every believer is intended to be an ambassador and extension of the Kingdom of God on earth, reflecting the light of Christ in every moment of everyday.

Bring your gratitude and worship and join with the entire worship team in celebrating the power for living a life worth living given by God to those who know Him. Everyone can experience the incredible blessing which comes from knowing God and making Him known!
